Use this mold to make a CFRP sandwich panel moon roof, I was able to achieve a 7lb weight reduction. There is one small flaw in the surface finish (you can see a 'wrinkle' in the first photo) but otherwise it works pretty well for wet layup vacuum bag. I just don't have time for this stuff anymore and am trying to reduce clutter in my small garage.
Free local pickup in Peoria AZ or you pay shipping. It's about 4" bigger than an actual moon roof on all sides for bagging. Actual dimensions are 48"x34"x3" and it weighs 20 pounds
Mold:
Finished product top
Finished product bottom
the process I used is as follows:
Cut holes in the existing part
Layup top sheet
Layup bottom sheet (interior) while simultaneously bonding core and existing part to topsheet.
You can experiment with it as well. I made to parts using the method above with good results but I think you could save some time by laying it all up at once.
The reason I made it the way I did was because I wanted to keep the lip to recieve the moon roof seal and it also would have been much more difficult to recreate the latch mounting points
