My "thoughts" would be to do a driving school where they have stock cars because as you have noted they are way different. I used to watch them when they ran with HSR West and VARA and the first thing they did after parking was to go up on the stands, wheels off and bleed the brakes, especially the front runners as 3500 or so pounds, even with those massive brakes takes a lot of stopping power getting into turn 3 at the CA Speedway. For a while they used a brake fluid recirc system but I don't know if it would be on your car as that really helps with brake pedal life. Do you have to use the clutch to shift as that is another slightly different thing to learn when you drive? Does your radio system work in the new car and if I remember you also have a video system so make sure they are all go to go. Lastly, I would NOT take both cars to the track, only the cup car for a race or two as you have noted the handling is way different.
