Thanks for answering. If you're a Ford guy, you're a Ford guy. No harm there. Then my advice would be to find a 2003 7.3L and budget for a transmission (or find a six speed!) Or find a 2006 or 2007 and budget for the EGR delete and a turbo clean.

In terms of performance, the 6.0L's are great, and the 5speed TorqueShift is much more durable than the old 4R100 4speed auto.

For what it's worth, I had a 2007 6.0L Harley Crew Cab 4x4 that I sold when it had a little over 100K miles. I towed everything with that truck, cross country many times. No issues. It was a great truck. If I didn't also own a 2007 GMC Crew Cab 4x4 Duramax that I could compare back to back, I would have loved it more.
