crankcase position sensor, but I think that is more the 7.3L?????
Did he run off water out of the fuel filter?
Then we get into issues with the 6.0 and it could be an assortment of issues including the injectors.
I'm wondering fuel or timing from the crankcase position sensor. If it is sudden and your description sounds the same as mine each time it went out. Switched to the one sourced through International (Navistar International) and stopped having the issue.
