Don't skimp. We went with Wolf and Sub Zero. Look for discontinued end of year models you can save big $. Go to distributors not retail outlets. It will pay off in the end- they last for decades and will pay off if you sell your house too. Our "old" (20 year old) Sub Zero fridge is in the laundry room. Still going strong.
I deeply regret having left my 60" Wolf range in the old house and am "putting up" with a Wolf cook top (20 years old) in the new one. But that range- the centerpiece of a remodeled kitchen- sold that house at top dollar. It sold in two days in a severely depressed DC market at more than our asking price.
In appliances you do get what you pay for. Besides, friends don't let friends buy GE.
