Wow, I just got some terrible news forwarded to me from my Dad. Joe Tischler was a guy who lived near us and we visited when I was in EAA years ago and while he was building the plane.

A Ventura County woman is dead, her husband injured, after their light plane crashed on takeoff from an Arizona airport. According to the Navajo County Sheriff's Department, 62-year-old Sandee Tischler of Thousand Oaks was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 65-year-old husband Joe Tischler was injured and was listed in stable condition at Flagstaff Medical Center. The couple had just taken off from the airport in Winslow Wednesday afternoon when their plane crashed about 300 yard northwest of the airport. The cause of the crash is under investigation by the NTSB. According to the FAA registry, the plane was a COZY-CANARD III. It was a fixed wing single engine airplane classified as experimental and registered to Joseph Tischler in Thousand Oaks.
