Ok after many nights of pondering this question I think I know what Porsche might have done.
Chassis = M491 (Turbo brakes and suspension) and yes wide body perhaps a wing special to the GT3 - something between Turbo and a Carrera - early Turbo style? or maybe the wide T tray IROC just not quite as wide. Oh and plastic bumpers ala SCRS
Engine = 3.2 with extra 1/2 pt compression and twin plug, perhaps some changes to allow an extra 500 rpm rev limit? freer louder exhaust ~265 hp, between a euro carrera and a Turbo
Trans = 915 with LSD (standard M491 i believe)
Stripper interior, maybe 73 RS evolved door panels, light wt carpet, rear seat delete. Fixed back seats (similar to race cars of the day) and a rear roll bar (remember this is a euro spec car.)
Turbo Wheels
So - pretty similar to what many have built, sort of an updated IROC car. The IROC was kind of the GT3 Cup racing of its day.
What do you guys think? should I not give up my narrow body dream :-)
Now I am depressed and I want to go buy an M491 and build this car....alas too rare and special to mess with.
