Yes you can - but be advised that the transom is wood - and they are known to rot.

That said - if you are going on this adventure - and you have the resources - the first thing I would do is replace the transom - then cut it out to whatever the format for the drive.

BUT - if I remember correctly - the jet drive version puts the engine about 8" further forward than the IO version.
