One of the guys I met at the Roebling Road race track last year in Georgia had a 87 Carrera that he bought new. He had converted his Carrera to a mostly track car. It was still street legal, but the suspension had solid bushings & stiff shocks and torsion bars. It had a roll cage and the other things necessary for doing a track day weekend on a regular basis. He was a CPA and his wife was a CPA and they owned their own accounting business. He said he had kept track of every penny he had spent on the car since day one. He had over 200,000 miles on it and he had rebuilt the engine twice. He had close the 1/4 million in it after all the years. That is an expensive hobby.
At least your tools can earn you a living with you twisting on them.
