Greetings Phil,

Regarding the sprocket that was not seated into the cam correctly after you spun the engine:

I would not worry about a bent valve unless you spun the engine hard and forced it past the piston contact point.

Once you are done you can hear the valves close through the spark plug holes. You can observe the valve clearance, you can do a compression test.

I would flush once more with some kerosene and use a Mr. Coffee type of filter to see if any metal filings are revealed.

Once you are done with the installation I would run the engine and do a quick oil change and inspect the oil.

Precautionary but necessary as you do not want a failure.
