All I know about knots is from a week when I was somewhere boring, but I had a knots for dummies sort of book, so I learned a few that seemed useful. Oh, and from fishing too.

All I know now is
- Truckers hitch to tighten stuff
- Half hitch x 3 to tie to something
- Fishermans knot to tie to something that I can't risk losing
- Square knot to casually connect two ends
- Double Fishermans knot to carefully connect two ends
- Surgeons knot
- Dropper

At the end of the day I think I overuse fishing knots for non-fishing uses, and I don't know how to handle flat cord or thick/slippery rope, but I can usually get stuff ligated.
