Mike and Carl are casual friends.
They were high school chums in Corinth.
Carl went on to be a famous casket maker in Cordoba, notable for introducing a complete line of caskets that were each lined with buttery soft leather. This leather came from an exclusive supplier back in his home town of Corinth.
Although originally known as "cuero de la muerte", Carl coined the well known name, "Corinthian Leather" and went on to make his fortune selling this exclusive leather to Chrysler corporation.
