Same here. The majority of rope rescue knots are based on the figure eight.
We use about seven variation of the Figure 8 , Barrel knot, half hitches, clove, water knot( for webbing) Butterfly. Bowlines are no longer acceptable for rescue. They have gone the way of the rotary phone.
Learned alot of cool knots from years of boating.
