It's BENT!

OK, after a bit of trepidation and moral support from a local Bimmerphile, I got the head off. This simple job was complicated by fear of the unknown. One intake valve was definitely bent. From the looks of it, the guide may be damaged as well:



Interesting note was that the other valve barely made contact with the piston. If you look closely, there's a slight semi-circular indentation in the carbon on from about 8 to 12 o'clock on the lower right valve. Anyone tell me why only one made solid contact? Other valve seat appears to be ok.




Fortunately, the piston appears to be virtually untouched. I brushed off the somewhat loose carbon and there were no burrs. May be a slight indentation on the otherwise straight edge on the upper left part of the piston where contact was most likely made.



Off to Ted's Machine Shop tomorrow!
