Ha ha! Love that story, Rick. We pulled stuff on our oncology patients all the time. Our leukemics stayed there forever after their induction of chemotherapy. One guy said he missed fishing. So one night, we took his regular plate off his dinner tray. We had one of those singing wall "stuffed" fish that sang if somebody walked by that you bought at a drugstore. We put that under his dinner tray cover. He about peed his pants laughing so hard when he took the lid off.
We had great fun in times that migh not have been. We even had a wedding on the unit when one patien wanted to get married to his long time girlfriend before he passed away.
I remember I had to give one of my patients a beer every night. It was an actual doctors order. So every night I would walk down the hall with beer in my hand and people always took a second look...
