Carrying a balance is better than paying it in full every month. The credit card companies like getting to hit you with an interest payment.
The best advice I can pass along is to view credit as a foundation to a house. Build it slow, make it solid, strong and make sure you don't put more on it that it is designed to hold.
Credit takes time.
