Old Audis are OK if you are not afraid to do some complicated wrenching now and then. But if you are soccer-mom that needs reliable car it might get pear shaped in a hurry. They are designed by committee of engineers with tendency for Rube Goldberg solutions to ordinary problems.

Fortunately, lot's of parts are interchangable with Audi 100 and there are lot's of them in the junk yards.
I came really close to buying a UrS4 on several occasions. Really great cars, they don't seem to have the overly complicated systems of the newer models.
