Some sparking??? To discharge a 90 amp-hour battery in minutes there must be a big spark. I wouldn't try the meter unless you have a handful of fuses.
I'd take the alternator out and have it checked or unsolder the wires and check the 19 (2 unused 3 for the reg) diodes with a meter.
And hope nothing else blew up.
