It means that minute differences in lap times between ultra-high performance new cars are irrelevant when your skill set would not allow you to drive either car at more than about 6 or 7 tenths. All other differences over shadow the lap times, unless they're significant.
A couple of small mods on the 911 would improve its lap times but make it a schittier car in everyday life, IOW make It more like the Mustang.
