Love the Guild too..
I too am a mechanical newb but pair up with my car's previous owner and for $100-$200 get to watch him do the more complex things to learn.
He has his own lift at his home so no feeling of rushing things..
Timing / Balance Belts and Water Pump are October goals with him..
Finding a nearby teacher here on Peli should prove viable for ya.
