You're not joking about the R compounds. The Toyo R888 on the 930 are harsh to the wallet.

The engine build I am currently doing, I stopped tallying the money after $7000. I have no idea where I am now.

It's a slippery slope, get your wife on board soon. It will make you both happier in the long run.
