My post may not have been clear, so you may have misunderstood me. I was flying out of the UK, and found the process to be much less painful than if I tried to get on a plain in the US, and I was flying to a foreign country, and was a foreigner myself...(I get a kick out of hearing US tourists refer to a local as a foreigner...)
Our system in the US, is instead of hassling just the people that look like they need hassling, to hassle everyone to make it "fair". It is a little worse if you're not a US citizen, I observed they had less workers for the non US, and more people in the line. I had no luggage, intentionally, so it made life easier when entering the US.
