I have to put pictures in people's heads. My work as a heritage interpreter has me talking to dozens of people daily, describing past events, building techniques, electrical generation, the movement of the world's highest tides and the effects of currents at the bottom of a channel where the visibility is less than the length of your arm and the currents are equivalent to a 120mph wind.
I know I've got it right when a group from a bus tour applauds or someone comes up to me after and thanks me for helping them understand.
I love my job.
Best
