I don't know enough to condemn the CAFE action but apparently (and as reported by Edmunds), it's a "plan" and it's set to be reviewed midway in the 9 year period in which autos are expected to gradually get increased mileage ratings.
I think if we could meet and stay along side EU achievements we'd be fine. But we don't get to emulate anyone even if they ARE better than US.
