well a .308 will fer sure do a number on a hawg. for a kid, maybe a 30/30 lever, a .243 bolt ,.270 bolt, a .44 mag lever ya didnt say how old???
buy a scout/socom, buy the tools, buy some ammo, and see if he likes it. if not then try some of the ones i mentioned.
you fer sure will like the scout or socom. great brush guns and they pack a wallop. you can scope either very simple.
the FN comes in shorty barrels also. i think its called the "CONGO" so it must be a gorilla killa!
