Update on Apple TV.
AAPL new TV product pushed out as content negotiations stall once again. MacRumors summarizes a new Bloomberg article that says AAPL will not release a new "TV product" (set-top box or branded TV) this year as difficult negotiations with media companies have slowed AAPL’s plans. The report says negotiations between AAPL and media companies have stumbled because (1) the cable companies want to have control over the software and (2) cable companies want to distribute the device -- you could only see AAPL caving on the second one. AAPL is furthest along negotiating with TWC which could be its first partner in a similar way that AT&T helped bring the iPhone to market. Beyond live content, AAPL is also said to be pursuing substantial offerings of on-demand content, but media companies are wary of losing control of their content and the channel bundles offered through cable providers.
