fwiw, I see the Cayenne (or the X5) as quiet comfortable capable vehicle for all nasty condition.
As far as 'Off road' use, you should see the 'roads' in Seattle proper. Tall wheels and adaptive suspension are good things. ...although I do some times worry about the low profile tires on the broken roads.
