I finally made it out to San Jacinto and picked up the tank, nice guys at Valley Auto Salvage. Tank very dirty on the outside, but still had some gas in it, so hoping it won't take much to clean it up. Thanks for the tip JB.
They had two what looked like 1980 models, some ok body panels left on them, and some glass, but not much else. If I were local I might offer them a deal like call me before you crush it and pop every bit you can off it for some flat fee like $100 or something. OTOH the cars looked fairly gleaned already I'm guessing by the old owner before selling them to the yard. None of the easy to remove locks left, but one I think still had ign and key on the floor. Junk inside both cars, and lots of spider web, so only way to touch it would be with some mondo gloves and pull everything out to whats in it.
The catch I guess is cutting deal that the yard would be OK with, prices on stuff you don't really need have to be plenty less than normal, but still worth their time to deal with you etc.
