Have you ever played a baritone guitar? I don't know how to explain it. It's something between a guitar and a bass, except it really sounds like neither. I guess it's played more like a bass, but with a pick, and no chords. Anyway, here's a converted Gibson EB my luthier friend built as an example. Strings are 13-70, with a plain 22 for a G string.
