while your not beating him..
you may as well be..
you come home going WTF..
he spends his days and night waiting for some interaction..
barking WTF..
you came for help..
which is more than many..
& I appreciate you asking & not just dumping him..
find him a home..
he's a senior now..
he should enjoy his final yrs...
my Jack had owners like yourself..
after dog-sitting / as they simply would have left him ...
I handed him 2 bills & simply kept him...
he sleep'd at my side last night..
and we walked this morning before work..
like we do every day 2x...EVERY DAY!
