The spread of the "pattern" from a shotgun at inside the house ranges even with a cylinder choke is maybe six inches. Yes, you aim a shotgun like any other weapon, at least if you intend to hit your target.
Rubber bullets won’t get you into trouble? If you discharge a firearm at another individual you are in trouble. No matter what the intent or outcome you’ll need a good attorney and you’ll likely get to go downtown for a talk (hopefully with your attorney present).
Birdshot vs. a grown man? You better shoot him in the face if you have any plans to incapacitate him; otherwise you are just going to piss him off. There’s that pesky aiming thing again.
“Racking the slide” This must be the biggest fairy tale of all. Why not just turn your flashlight on yourself and yell, “Hey, I’m over here.” You do have a light to ID who you are shooting at, right? You are going to need the light for at least two of the four rules. Seriously even if this did work 99% of the time what are you going to do about the other 1%? Are you willing to take that chance when it comes to your life and the lives of your loved ones? I’m not.
If I find you in my house illegally I will assume you intend to harm me or my family. I will do my best to prevent that and that means stopping you right now. The best and only assured way of doing that is to make you dead RFN.
Look, I don’t have a lot of posts here, or anywhere, for that matter. I read more than I talk. I use the same ID on every forum I frequent, so you can look me up. Ignore me if you wish, but I’m no chairborne commando, internet tough guy. I’m just regular people, but I was reared to take my responsibility for my family and their well being very serious.
If you are going to own a gun with the intent to use it in self defense you damn well better wrap you head around the fact that you may have to take someone’s life. The gun is merely a tool, the mind is the weapon. Pray you never have to use a gun against another human. Be prepared for if you do.
