I usually try to use OEM seals, but looking at my old one, it certainly doesn't need to fit perfect to work. And it's large enough to trim or "make fit" if need be.

Ryan, did you ever get an answer to this? It's my understanding that the OEM piece does not really fit an '81 anyway. Porsche changed the seal but kept the same model number. I think Dan at CarsInc sells the correct size reproduction manufactured to the old specs. Vintage Porsche Parts and Targa Tops for Porsche One of Wayne's competitors has the correct size reproduction seal as well (for 135.99). I don't think I'm supposed to list their name here, but they've been around for a long time. Email me if you want.

I wish Pelican carried the repro.
