I tend to agree that using a firearm for home defense requires a lot of serious thought and preparation. The consequences are often final. My wife is really uncomfortable with firearms and while she has some training, she probably has not fired 200 rounds in her life and would never go hunting. Her choice for personal defense when I am away is a dog, a can of bear spray, and her cel phone. These things she knows how to use and is unlikely to make a fatal mistake when in a groggy state, being awakened in the middle of the night by an intruder.
We must consider these things carefully.
