The only time you will hear a beep is if something is not set right - if a door or lid is open, etc. It is to signal you that there is some aspect of the alarm system that is not armed correctly There will be no sound when the alarm is set and working.

After setting it, you should see the blinking red light on the center console door lock button, blinking, if it is armed correctly. That's how mine works.
