Ford euro will have the 2.0L DuraTorq diesel (160 hp / 250 ft-lb) which is good for 20% better fuel economy than the 2.0L EcoBoost gas (240 hp / 250 ft-lb) which will be available here, and there.
Trouble is, the diesel is more expensive, 2 seconds slower to 60 mph, and that 20% gain in efficiency is offset by the 15-20% higher cost of diesel over gasoline in the U.S.
Maybe they'll offer it here if demand for diesel rises.
In the mean time, the U.S. 2013 Ford Fusion Energi (hybrid), 188 hp with more torque than the diesel, is EPA rated at 47 mpg city and 47 mpg freeway, eclipsing what the diesel would likely earn in both ratings. So why not the plug-in hybrid?
