What little truth there is to this is strictly anecdotal....but it's probably more true than not.

I do know that there are claims that not a single M97 motor (ie motors built after mid-2005 some of which found there way into 996 like mine under warranty) has ever failed because of a IMS bearing, and that so far no-one has been able to refute this claim.

I like those odds.
