It's also entirely possible that women are more comfortable treating men, including male coworkers as equals and don't see any reason an invitation to coffee should have a sexual overtone to it just because it's extended to a member of the oposite sex.

Or maybe women just want to have sex with everyone they ask to have coffeee with. It hasn't happened to me yet, personally, but we men know that every time a woman brings herself to our attention, it's a subtle indication that she's asking us to have sex with her, right?

I'm personally suspecting that sometimes a cup of coffee is just a cup of coffee, but by all means you should tell your wife. If you have a secret from your wife, no matter how small, it means you have something to hide. And nothing good ever comes from having something to hide in a relationship.

One final point is a modifier to all the advice set forth above. High up in the Man Code there is a provision that states there is a sliding scale for the kind of activity to be tolerated with a woman who is not one's spouse, based on level of hottness. Coffee with pretty much any woman is ok. Swimming naked in a hotel pool is clearly OK if the woman inviting you to jump in is a circa 1980s Christie Brinkley driving an F car (which is at least +9 charisma points), even if your wife is Beverly D'Angelo. Anything in between requires a balancing aproach.

So all in all, go to the local coffee shop, have a nice cup of coffee but don't enjoy anything stronger than half decaf.
