"
The M1 Garand is greatest single battle implement ever devised by man." -- General George S. Patton, Jr.
Although I’ll necessarily defer to tabs regarding all spoon matters, my late father’s SA USMC sniper 278**** -replete w/ bayonet- is a prized piece in our Second Amendment collection.
The DCM subjected him to a thorough background check and having personally demonstrated marksmanship proficiency at a local range prior to its purchase.
That he lawfully transported firearms aboard public transportation while earning his B.S. degree and a varsity letter on UCLA’s rifle team during ’52 & ’53 did little to sway the feds.
Must be noted I’ve almost none of its original 20-round detachable magazines.
The pages of documentation required for its legitimate procurement rightly enhances its keepsake and heirloom value IMHO.

Seems your SN 573**** M1 was originally manufactured by Harrington & Richardson. It’s likely a desirable piece of memorabilia hardware.
