I use a Mossberg 500 for home defense. When I bought it, I kept the pistol grip and retractable stock on it. It looked cool, but I could not hit the broad side of a barn with it that way. I put a full stock on it, an kept the short barrel (I have a long barrel as well). I also use it with the full military style stock. I shoot well that way.
