Go with the 500 or 870. In all my military and leo years, I never had on jam or miss fire on me. I have also owned both personally as well. Once you are familiar with them, you could load them blindfolded in the dark. I would only use brand new ammo (NO RELOADS) for home defense. This should lessen any possibilities of a malfunction. Saiga is making a Kalashnikov actioned 12ga now that takes a clip, but I cannot vouch for their dependability. If they are as dependable as their AK cousins, they may be something to consider... just my .02 good luck on the search!
