absolutely. i just read an industry paper on belt shelf life, limiting it to 8 years in the best of conditions.

contitech has had one of the shortest lifespans of any belt i have come across so far. they are very flexible, which helps them be quiet, but they are most subject to polymer crosslinking.

gates has been the longest lifespan and most consistent belt i have found.
