I double checked everything, and did the proverbial SMOKE TEST!
Good news, all the smoke stayed inside the wires and components.
I hit my first roadblock. Arrrggggg!
Went into BIOS and booted from the motherboard DVD to set things up. Right off the bat it asks me to insert the (expletives deleted) FLOPPY! Really in 2012 I need a 1980s technology to make my new state of the art computer set up. A floppy!
Why can't they figure out to make a USB drive work?
I have an old floppy drive on the shelf but the new motherboard does not have floppy drive connections. I have to get a USB based floppy? This is stupid. If a USB floppy will work why not a USB flash drive?
I will have to Google how to make a USB drive imitate a floppy drive. There must be a way. Of course all this setup stuff is done with a DOS driver so I may be out of luck and be forced to buy a USB floppy.
