I didn't post a thread here about my build Bob... should've...would've...if not for the time and attention that a project of this nature and scope requires.
Nevertheless, I will try to give a description about the sectional work involved in our "tribute S/T" build.
ENGINE: The car came with a stock, CIS'd 3.0... and I wanted a more dedicated, purpose-built engine for vintage-racing.
I was able to get hold of a hi-comp 2.8, with a tuned, tall-stacked MFI already installed.
Just what I was looking for... a more "period-correct"-looking motor than the 3.0 CIS.
It was crank-dyno'd at 272HP...according to the builder.
And on a lightened '72T, that's surely a good thing!
Knowing that I wasn't satisfied, and confident, with the 915 tranny that was mated to the 3.0, I decided to get a newly-rebuilt 915 tranny...and while I was at it, had a new WaveTrac LSD installed.
When the tranny arrived, it was fortuitous that a couple of more "goodies" were already pre-installed by the previous owner!
Wevo internal gateshift...original Porsche tranny oil cooler...turbo synchros...among others... Christmas came early last year!
