I have autocross numbers on my Miata. SCCA sponsor stickers, the works. I don't get any trouble from the law. I assume it is because they figure I know how to drive. I don't run the cars as much since I broke my arm a couple of years ago, but I still have the stickers on.
I have a few mods I want to do with the car this winter, then I want to run it. Sometimes I see cars with the roundels from things like the California Mille. Nice cars, lightweight Jags and such. I see these adornments as badges of honor, or a nod to the heritage.
No matter who you are, or what you do, someone is going to have a negative opinion about what you are doing. I guess peer pressure may count for something, but really, I think people should run what they want, because haters gonna hate. Can't change that.
