Innovative, only where it relates to the GS line. Not when it comes to the rest of the motorcycle world...I'd hardly consider a water cooled engine with a wet clutch innovative. Not sure whether you noticed, Jeff... but it has been done before
As for the "better in many ways"... that still remains to be seen. They made an already heavy bike heavier and lifted the CG. It's also a bit more expensive. So, it will have to prove itself for a while, until any kind of tag can be applied, I think.
I am happy with my "old" hex-head and will ride that bike into the ground... which might take a while, seeing how it - so far - has taken ANY kind of abuse I threw at it, in stride.
