Instinctive reaction was probably to brake - and hence he stood the bike up in order to brake hard. Probably the wrong thing to do (evidently!) as he may have made it if he kept turning given it looked like the Corvette was prepared to give him room even though he crossed the centre line. Easy to be wise after the event.

Basically caused by going too fast IMHO. I can't imagine that Harleys turn very well at any decent speed so you need to get your corner entry speed right as you can't lean them over very far before grounding.

BTW, I only ride 125cc twist & go, so this really is only my $0.02.
