Can you hear or feel it spin up?
Is it seen in your hardware list?
If yes can you select it to format? DON'T FORMAT IT. Just trying to see if it's recognized at the hardware level.
If you get that far you may be able to recover.
If not you still can but it starts to get really expensive.
