So here's the deal... i work for an oil field service company with 6000+ employees in 6 or so countries. We have around 3000 employees in Canada and we put on millions of miles per year.
A few years ago, one of our Nitrogen bulkers was involved in a fatality accident on a clear day. Road conditions were good.
As it was slowing to turn onto a lease road, our big semi was rear ended by a 1 ton truck hauling a gooseneck trailer with a bunch of equipment and tubulars on it. Both occupants of the 1 ton, brothers new to the oil patch from Ontario, were killed instantly when they rear ended our truck.
This took place on a long, straight stretch of highway, the kind Alberta is famous for. The family of the driver was looking at some photos on the driver's cell phone and discovered something horrible - the driver was taking photos from the driver's seat when this accident happened. The last photo he took was of the back of our truck with the brake lights on.
I presented this story and the gruesome photos at the last PCA meeting I attended. Lets just say that the general concensus at the meeting was something like, "I own a Porsche therefore I must be the world's greatest driver AND I am immune to distracted driving..."
Smarten up Gunter, put your camera away and focus on driving. From what I have read on this forum, maybe you arent such a great driver after all.
Oh and if you want to impress the ladies, the potato goes in the front of the speedos...
