How hard have you tried to persuade it? I used a length of PVC pipe and some light to moderate taps with a 3 lb sledge, took maybe 3 or 4 taps to drive home. I could not have done it by pressing with my hands only.
BTW -- it completely transformed the car's steering in a very positive way.
