Orionid meteor shower/satellites?
Anyone get up last night to see the meteor shower? I woke up at 5 am and went out on the deck and saw a few over an hour with my son. A couple of good ones. It was worth seeing.
I did watch something "fall" from Orion's belt...it took about 30 seconds from the belt till I lost it behind the house. It flared up a little and then I could still see it. Later I saw a light move left from Orion's leg across the sky where I had a opn view. I watched it lope along the sky for about a minute. At the same time, I saw one rise up from the bottom of the constellation but I lost track of it.
I'm wondering what these things were. I have never seen slow shooting stars. I dont the they were planes. They didn't flash and sort of came out of nowhere. Could they have been satellites? Can you see satellites without anything to illuminate them?
